Origin:
This variety is selectively bred from wild discus species, primarily found in the Amazon River basin of South America. The Yellow Crystal Discus has been developed through targeted breeding to produce a solid golden-yellow base accented with a unique crystal-like sheen or subtle reflective patterns, giving it a luminous appearance in aquariums.

Size:
Adult Yellow Crystal Discus typically grow to about 6 to 8 inches (15 to 20 cm) in diameter.

Temperament:

• Peaceful and social fish
• Prefers to be kept in groups of 5 or more
• Sensitive to stress and water quality fluctuations; thrives in calm, stable environments

Care Requirements:

• Water temperature: 82°F to 86°F (28°C to 30°C)
• pH: 6.0 to 7.0
• Water hardness: Soft to moderately hard
• Requires regular water changes and good filtration to maintain excellent water quality

Diet:
Omnivorous — feeds on high-quality flakes, pellets, and beef heart preparations.

Special Notes:

• The solid golden base combined with crystal-like reflective patterns makes this strain look especially vibrant under soft or LED aquarium lighting.
• Because of its lighter coloration, stress or poor water conditions can cause noticeable darkening — so stable parameters are essential.
• A dark substrate or planted background enhances its glowing crystal effect, making it a prized show fish in aquascaped or display tanks.
